Sacred shrine dirt, wild and processed clays, beeswax, concrete, epoxy resin, oil, acrylic, aerosol, damar, uv archival spray on stretched canvas.
An ode to Saraswati, the goddess of creativity, arts, learning, math, science and painting--made with dirt collected from one of her sacred shrines in Indonesia. Wild and processed clays were finger-sculpted, concrete was paddled on, and resins poured in alternating layers to create a highly textured, translucent surface. This was then repeatedly brushed over with an improperly adhered beeswax layer, over which acrylics and water-based paints successfully beaded. This creates the look of steam and dewdrops on glass, reminiscent of steam and humidity. A prayer to the sacred energy that flows, like a nameless river, through every artist.
