or High velocity extrusion of polyurethane foam at distance.
Made from polyurethane foam, aerosol, concrete, acrylic, utility paint, epoxy resin, garbage, clay, recycled paintbrush fibres, oil, damar resin, uv archival spray.
I began this piece first by painting a piece of trash floating in the ocean. Only later, in experimenting with polyurethane foams, did it occur to me to entomb the entirety of the earlier painting. I became obsessed with the strange shapes polyurethane makes when pressurized; I shot it fast across the studio, watching it unfurl into these strangely familiar shapes. Wiggling, wagging little puffs coalesced over the heavier concrete painting underneath and begged for a bright, appetizing colour. Contemporary, mouthwatering and undoubtedly crunchy.
